Successful manufacture new complex structures

 

Recently, Shanghai Hanbang United 3D Tech Co., Ltd.(HBD) work with Guangdong Industry

University by using of 3D Printing technology, successfully created a new complex structure of the acetabulum file for removal of the acetabulum articular cartilage in a hip replacement surgery. Through checking, this research is the first time that use metal 3D Printing to manufacture the metal medical surgical tools, which also is the first case in the whole cutting tool manufacturing area in China.

The research is based on the SLM-280 Metal 3D printer developed by Shanghai Hanbang United 3D Tech Co., Ltd.(HBD) Firstly, to use Pro/E for the 3D model creating, then through the HBD data processing software to add the supporting and achieve scan path planning for the model, next step is execute the 3D Printing. The printing material is stainless steel, printing five different kinds of tools at one time, the thickness of the printing layer is 30 microns, the total layer is 1280, total printing time is 22 hours. The precision error of the printing tool is within 0.05 mm, that the quality and strength all meet the expected requirements.

The study confirmed that the 3D Printing technology can break through the limitations of traditional machining, rapid manufacturing complex whole cutting tool, shorten the development period of the new cutting tool development, provides a new method and new way for new complex whole cutting tool design and manufacture; It also lays a solid foundation for the production of various new metal tools in the future.
